Bunions Causing Searing Pain This Winter? 3 Steps To Help Soothe Your Aching Feet

Blog

If you suffer from bunions, you know how unbearable the cold winter weather can be. When the weather turns cold, the searing pain heads right to them. Unfortunately, once the cold weather settles into your feet, the pain can be difficult to get rid of, even with medication. That's because when you have bunions, your feet are particularly susceptible to the cold. If the cold weather has gone right to your feet, here are three simple steps you can take to alleviate the pain and discomfort.

Start with the Right Socks

If you have bunions, the first thing you need to do during the winter is invest in good socks. To keep your feet warm, and the pain away, you're going to need several good pairs of bunion socks. Ordinary socks simply won't cut it once the cold weather arrives. However, thick bunion socks will lock in the heat, and provide your feet with the support you need. One of the great things about bunion socks is that they separate your toes so that your feet can be properly aligned.

Choose a Good Pair of Boots

When it comes to preventing bunion pain during the winter, you've got to choose the right boots. Any pair of boots may keep your feet warm and dry, but that doesn't mean they have what it takes to stop bunion pain. To keep the bunion pain away, you'll want a pair of winter boots with a wide toe box. The wide toe box will give your feet plenty of room where they need it most – right around the bunions. When you come in from the cold, take your boots off, and slip into a warm pair of slippers.

Pamper Your Feet

If you've been outside in the cold, and you feel the arthritis pain coming on, it's time to pamper your feet. Fill a basin with warm water and add a few tablespoons of Epsom salts. Sit back and soak your feet for a few minutes. Dry them off with a soft towel and lather them up with a good moisturizer. Put a clean pair of bunion socks on, and put your feet up for about 20 minutes. You'll feel the pain start easing up in no time at all.

Don't let bunion pain leave your feet in crippling pain this winter. Use the simple tips provided here to alleviate the pain and discomfort. If these tips fail to bring you relief, be sure to speak to your podiatrist as soon as possible. If your bunions are causing you debilitating pain, your podiatrist may recommend foot surgery for them.

Learning About Important Podiatrist Services

Hello, my name is Vicki Sutherland. Welcome to my site about podiatrist services. As I reached old age, I took a good hard look at the condition of my feet. For so long, I ignored the pain and discomfort that resulted from constantly wearing shoes suited for the workplace. Those shoes put unnecessary pressure on my toes and heels, resulting in a number of damaged sections. Eventually, I decided to go into the podiatrist for treatment. The treatment restored my feet and eliminated the bulk of the discomfort. I would like to talk about all of the diagnostic procedures and treatments provided by the podiatrist. I hope you can use the information I provide to heal your feet as well. Thanks.
